Hello Roger,
Thank you for the detailed update and the screenshots. I understand, and I want to make sure we approach this in the right order so that we avoid any more long rebuilds or unnecessary steps.
Your images show something very important: even when your 2L Brain does open, the Plex is not rendering correctly (thoughts clustering in the upper left, no link lines drawn). That aligns with a rendering failure rather than a data issue, as you suspected.
Before I bring this back to our engineering team, I need to confirm a few details so they can target the exact failure:
- Please try opening any Brain in TheBrain 15 again, then take an uncropped screen recording showing:
- – launching the app
- – selecting the Brain
- – the moment the “Something went wrong” message appears
- – and if it opens partially, the incorrect rendering you showed in the screenshots
- Please also confirm whether the Outline layout works reliably when the Plex fails, or if both views encounter problems.
- If possible, please try creating a brand-new empty test Brain and immediately opening it, then include that in the same recording if it fails as well.
This recording is critical because the logs alone do not show what state the renderer is in at the time of failure. The development team needs to see the full UI during the failure to determine whether it is the same macOS rendering issue we have been working around, or a separate framework-level problem.
You do not need to reindex or rebuild anything again. Just record the behavior exactly as it occurs now.
As soon as I have the recording and answers to the two questions above, I’ll forward everything to our engineers and continue with the next step.
Thank you again for your patience while we work through this.
Best regards,
John
