Hello Roger,

Thank you for the clarification and for confirming that the full MetaDB reset was already done. I appreciate you taking the time to run those steps, especially given how long the reindexing takes on your 2L Brain.

Based on the most recent crash log you sent, the issue you’re now hitting is a separate macOS-level crash that can occur when Cerebro interacts with the notes editor. There is a workaround available for this.

When you have a moment, please do the following:

  1. Update to TheBrain 15.0.87 using the Alpha Update Channel.
  2. Open TheBrain → Settings → AI → General
  3. Change Markdown Conversion Mode to Controlled

This setting avoids the macOS framework bug that causes the crash you saw.

No need to rebuild or reindex again before testing, you can simply make the change and try opening your Brain afterward.

And regarding your question about the U00 and U01 folders, that is normal behavior. It just indicates that more than one account has been used on this machine at some point.

Once you've updated and changed the setting, let me know how it goes and I’ll continue from there.

Best regards,

John
