User confused, TheBrain does NOT support OPML #97686

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your detailed email and for outlining the steps you’ve already tried.

To clarify, TheBrain 14 does not include an OPML import option. The screenshot or instructions you received from Gemini AI were incorrect, sometimes large language models can “hallucinate” features that don’t exist, and unfortunately OPML import isn’t a supported format in v14.

The current supported import options are exactly the ones you listed:

• Brain Archive (.brz)
• Text Outline (.txt)
• Folders
• TheBrain 8 XML (.xml)
• TheBrain 8 Brain (.brainzip)
• MindManager (.mmap)
• FreeMind (.mm)

If OPML import is important for your workflow, one workaround some users employ is to convert the OPML file into FreeMind (.mm) format using an external converter, then import that into TheBrain.

I know this isn’t what you were expecting, but at least there’s nothing wrong with your installation or license, this is simply a case where TheBrain doesn’t support that file type directly.
