Hello Anthony,
Thank you for your patience as we worked on the issue, and yes, the log file was indeed helpful in pinpointing the issue.
It appears that your user database has been corrupted, and needs to be repaired.
Before proceeding, please ensure that your data is safely backed up:
1. Confirm that your Brains are synced to the cloud and accessible via the web client:https://app.thebrain.com.
2. Alternatively, check if you have .brz backup files for your Brains.
Once your backups are secure, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Rename the Brains folder
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\Brains - Rename the folder to
BrainsOld
(This prevents TheBrain from using potentially corrupted data in the current Brains folder. This ensures a clean start for your local storage.)
Step 2: Perform a MetaDB reset
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB
(You may need to enable hidden items in File Explorer to access AppData.)
- Locate the file named
TheBrainMeta.dband rename it toTheBrainMeta.db.old - Restart TheBrain and log in again
(This will generate a new, uncorrupted database upon restart.)
After completing these steps, TheBrain will recreate fresh configuration files and download your synced Brains from the cloud. If your Brains weren’t synced, you can restore them from your .brz backups.
Let me know how it goes or if you run into any issues. I’ll be happy to assist further.
Best regards,
John
