TheBrain.Client.Sync.AutoSyncManager #98261
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98261
Hello Walter,
Thank you very much for the follow-up and for attaching the log with the exact time, much appreciated.
What you’re describing (the image remaining on the desktop after closing) can happen if a background sync process doesn’t exit cleanly. A couple of quick checks first:
- After closing TheBrain, open Task Manager and see if TheBrain.exe is still running. If it is, End task, then relaunch TheBrain and close it again. Let me know if the image clears.
If the behavior persists, let’s do a safe local reset (this does not affect your cloud data). Please follow these steps:
Before you begin (backup check):
- Confirm your Brains are visible at https://app.thebrain.com or
- Confirm you have a recent .brz backup.
Windows, MetaDB reset & Brains folder rename
Rename Brains Folder
- Go to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\Brains - Rename the folder to BrainsOld
Reset MetaDB
- Go to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB - Rename TheBrainMeta.db to TheBrainMeta.db.old
Restart TheBrain and sign in. Your Brains will re-index and re-sync.
After doing this, please try closing the app again and let me know if the desktop image still remains. If it does, a short screen recording plus a fresh Output.log captured right after reproducing the issue (with the exact time it occurs) will help us dig deeper.
We’re here for you and will circle back as soon as we hear back.
Best regards,
John
