Problem with installing TheBrain #96363
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/96363
Hello Don,
Thank you for reaching out and providing the details. From what you mentioned, it looks like TheBrain is trying to access files stored in OneDrive, which can cause issues. To ensure stability, we recommend moving your Brains folder out of OneDrive.
Before proceeding, could you clarify:
- Are you installing TheBrain on a new machine?
- Are your Brains backed up via the cloud or stored as a .brz backup file?
If your Brains are synced to the cloud, you can simply download them again. If you have a .brz backup file, you can import it instead.
If your data is not backed up, we can attempt to recover it by performing the following steps:
Step 1: Rename Your Brains Folder
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[your username]\Brains. - Locate the folder named Brains.
- Rename it to BrainsOld (this prevents TheBrain from referencing any potentially corrupted data).
Step 2: Perform a MetaDB Reset
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB. - If the AppDatafolder is hidden, enable hidden files:
- Open File Explorer, click View, then select Options.
- Go to the View tab and enable Show hidden files, folders, and drives, then click OK.
- Locate the file TheBrainMeta.db.
- Rename it to TheBrainMeta.db.old.
- Restart TheBrain and log in again.
After completing these steps, TheBrain should launch as if it were a fresh installation. You can then import your backed-up Brains or download them from the cloud if they are already synced.
If the issue persists, please send us a new Output.log file so we can investigate further.
Looking forward to your update!
Best regards,
John
