FULL META AND BRAIN RESET (MacOS) #95352

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/95352

Hello Bryan,

Thank you for your patience while we reviewed the issue. Based on our investigation, it seems that partially deleted files may be causing the problem. To resolve this, we recommend a backup followed by a reset of your Brain folder and MetaDB file.

Before proceeding, please ensure you back up your Brains as.brzfiles or sync them to the cloud (on your other device). This step is essential to avoid any data loss.

Once your backups are secured, follow these steps:

1. Reset the MetaDB:

  1. Navigate to:

Macintosh HD/Users/[your username]/.TheBrain/v9/MetaDB/TheBrainMeta.db.

Note: The.TheBrainfolder is hidden by default.

  1. To access it:
    • Open Finder.
    • Click Go in the menu, then Go to Folder.
    • Type ~/.TheBrain (without quotes) and press Enter.
    • Navigate to v9/MetaDB.
  1. Locate the file TheBrainMeta.db and rename it to TheBrainMeta.db.old.

2. Rename the Brain Data Directory:

  1. Go to:

Macintosh HD/Users/[your username]/Brains.

  1. Inside the Brains folder, you should see one or more folders named something like U00, U01, etc.
  2. Rename the Brains folder to BrainsOriginal.

3. Restart TheBrain:

Once these steps are complete, restart TheBrain. You should now have a clean slate.

If the issue persists, please send us a fresh log file so we can investigate further.

We’re here to assist if you have any questions or run into challenges during the process.

Best regards,

John
