Failed indexing process with V15.0.504 update #99550
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99550
Hello Xavier,
Thank you for sending the sample PDFs and for the thoughtful question.
TheBrain is capable of storing and indexing large PDF files, but indexing performance is generally better when content is distributed across smaller, interconnected Brains rather than a single Brain containing thousands of large attachments. Large numbers of sizable PDFs can significantly increase indexing time and resource usage, which is what we’re seeing indications of here.
That said, before drawing any firm conclusions or recommending structural changes, we still need to capture the correct diagnostic data.
To move this forward, please do the following while running TheBrain 15.0.506:
- Close TheBrain
- Delete the current
Output.log - Reopen TheBrain
- Start indexing the affected Brain and let it run for as long as possible
- Then send us the newly generated
Output.log
This will give us the full startup and indexing context needed to properly evaluate what’s happening.
As a comparison, it would also be helpful to confirm:
- Whether indexing completes successfully on a smaller existing Brain
- Whether indexing works normally on a brand-new test Brain
Once we have that information, we’ll be in a better position to advise whether any changes are needed or if this is something that can be improved on our side.
Thanks again for your patience and for helping us investigate this.
Best regards,
John
