Ben Sarsozo metadb reset, local sync issue #97890
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97890
Hello Ben,
Thank you for sending the logs and for your patience. The errors point to your local MetaDB (the small database TheBrain uses to track your account and sync state) being out of sync. Resetting this usually clears the issue.
The fix is to reset the MetaDB so TheBrain rebuilds it fresh:
Steps for Windows:
- Close TheBrain completely.
- Open File Explorer and go to:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB- (If you don’t see AppData, enable hidden files: View > Options > View tab > check “Show hidden files, folders, and drives.”)
- In this folder, find the file called TheBrainMeta.db.
- Rename it to TheBrainMeta.db.old.
- Restart TheBrain and log in again.
This will cause TheBrain to create a new, clean MetaDB and re-establish sync. This doesn’t affect your Brain data itself, it only forces TheBrain to rebuild its account/index database. Once you sign back in, your Brains will reappear as normal.
Here is a video demonstration on how to do it. Please only do the metadb reset, the brains folder rename isn't needed: https://www.loom.com/share/3b6a7b1cecc04d849c96b18ba1b1fb43?sid=ee38c0c4-160f-4c88-a826-71c4bb7fe2e1
Please try this and let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
John
