Opening linked files in the brain from obsidian #97310
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97310
Hello Emil,
Thank you again for your patience and for providing all the details earlier.
We’ve spent a good amount of time testing and evaluating the possibility of integrating TheBrain with Obsidian. Unfortunately, based on current functionality, TheBrain does not natively support launching Obsidian vault files via the obsidian:// protocol, nor does it offer a seamless way to open .md files inside Obsidian from within a Brain.
You can manually drag individual .md files from your Obsidian vault into TheBrain, and their contents will appear under new Thoughts, but this method doesn’t preserve your vault structure or provide in-app launching into Obsidian. It’s quite a manual and fragmented workflow, and we understand that’s not the experience you were hoping for.
That said, theoretically, if one has the technical resources and experience with API scripting and system-level automation, it might be possible to build a custom workflow that connects the two apps, for example, by generating clickable obsidian:// URLs from within TheBrain that reference specific notes in a vault. However, this requires a deep understanding of how both applications handle file linking and likely involves custom scripting or automation outside of what TheBrain currently offers.
We’re continuing to check with our development team for any possible workarounds, but at present, there is no built-in solution that achieves what you’re aiming for.
Thanks again for bringing this up, we’ll follow up once we know more.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Best regards,
John
