Migration - another issue #99238
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99238
Hello Robert,
Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. I can see there are several things happening at once, so the first step is to slow this down and gather clear evidence so we don’t end up guessing.
Let’s start by focusing on the copy/paste behavior, since that’s the most concrete and repeatable issue.
Copying very large selections (for example, 100+ thoughts at once) can put significant strain on the clipboard and internal state, especially during migration and on older or heavily populated Brains. That doesn’t mean it should fail silently, but it does mean we need to see exactly where it’s breaking down.
Before we move further, could you please send us the following:
- A screen recording showing:
- selecting multiple thoughts
- copying them (normal copy or text outline)
- attempting to paste into the target Brain
- This will help us see where the workflow stops responding.
- The Output.log from your desktop immediately after one of these copy/paste attempts:
- Quit TheBrain
- Reopen it
- Reproduce the issue once
- Then send the log file from:
- ~/.TheBrain/v9/Logs/Output.log
- A few quick clarifications:
- Which exact version of TheBrain 15 you’re currently running
- Whether this happens with smaller selections as well, or only when copying many thoughts at once
- Whether this occurs between all Brains or only specific ones
Once we have the log and a short recording, we can isolate whether this is a clipboard limitation, a state issue in version 15, or something specific to the migration.
For now, I’d recommend avoiding very large multi-thought copy operations until we’ve identified what’s happening, so we don’t risk compounding the problem.
Thank you for your patience, we’ll take this one step at a time.
Best regards,
John
