TB15 Error Message: Requested Brain Could Not Be Found after switching from v14 #98498

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98498

Hello Metta,

Thank you again for capturing the screenshots and sharing the log file, that helps a lot.

What you’re seeing appears to be a momentary hiccup when TheBrain 15 tries to reload a previously open Brain right after switching from TheBrain 14. Both versions share certain session data, and if v15 starts too quickly after v14 closes, it can briefly lose track of the Brain’s path and trigger the “Requested Brain Could Not Be Found” message. Once the database finishes loading, everything comes back, which matches your description.

For now, please try the following:

  1. When closing v14, wait 10–15 seconds before launching v15.
  2. If the message appears again, simply close it, then go to File › Utilities › Rebuild Brain Index in that Brain.
  3. If it keeps recurring, please grab a fresh Output.log right after the popup appears and note the exact steps you took beforehand (for example, which Brain you clicked and whether v14 was open recently, or how quick was it? Did you close the syncing brains dialogue when closing v14?).

Your data is completely safe; this looks like a transient load timing issue between the two versions. We’ll monitor it closely as more reports come in.

Best regards,

John
