Data Integrity Error on Android Device (Unsafe names) Dennis #96256
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/96256
Hello Dennis,
Thank you for reaching out.
To address this issue, I recommend updating to the latest beta version on the Play Store. The beta includes an option to back up your Brain as a.brzfile, which you can then transfer to the desktop client to run a Data Integrity Scan and identify any issues. (Make sure to check the option to "Allow anyone to restore from the exported files" when creating the backup.)
Understanding the Error: Unsafe File Name
This error typically occurs due to special characters in one or more attachment file names (excluding URLs). The following symbols are known to cause issues:
/ \ : * ? < > | "
Steps to Resolve on the Desktop Client
- Transfer the
.brzfile to your computer- Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
- Copy the
.brzfile to a known location on your computer.
- Import the
.brzfile into TheBrain desktop client- Open TheBrain.
- Go to File > Import Brain Archive (.brz) and select your file.
- Run a Data Integrity Scan
- Navigate to File > Utilities > Perform Data Integrity Scan.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- Resolve Any Issues Found
- If any issues are listed, click each one and follow the prompts to resolve them.
- Please document any issues (preferably take a screenshot) and let us know what was found.
- Verify the Fix
- Restart the scan and confirm that it shows: "No issues requiring manual resolution."
If You Encounter Additional Errors
- If you see a “Some issues will be resolved next Sync” message:
- Sync your Brain and then restart the scan to ensure all issues are resolved.
- If you see a “An error occurred, details have been logged” message:
- Submit your Output.log file for further investigation. (Since we haven’t yet rolled out the logic update for iOS/Android log files to capture this issue, a log from the desktop should help us troubleshoot further.)
Let me know if you need any further assistance!
Best regards,
John
