Andrew Mellon issue (cannot import brain, did something wrong and brain slow) #99657

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
To better assist you, I have a few questions to clarify the situation:
- When you mention that you "updated your computers and unintentionally updated your primary Brain," can you confirm if this was a hardware issue (e.g., hard drive or storage) or if you added new information to the Brain that may have caused the slowdown? Understanding this will help us pinpoint the root cause.
- Are you looking to convert your Brain back to version 14 from v15 beta? If so, here's how you can make it compatible:
- Open the Brain in v15.
- Next to the sync icon, click the drop-down arrow and uncheck the option for Light Sync Attachments. This will make the Brain backwards compatible with v14.
- Regarding the .brz backup: You cannot import a backup into an existing Brain. However, you can create a new Brain, then import your backup into that new Brain. This process will assign a new GUID to the Brain, allowing you to successfully import it.
Additionally, could you send us the Output.log file from your system? Here are the log file paths for both platforms:
- Windows:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\Logs\Output.log- or you can paste this path directly in File Explorer:
%LocalAppData%\TheBrain\Logs\Output.log- macOS:
~/.TheBrain/v9/Logs/Output.log- You can open this by going to Finder, then selecting Go > Go to Folder and entering
~/.TheBrain/v9/Logs/Output.log. - This will help us check for any errors and provide more targeted support.
Looking forward to hearing from you and assisting you further!
Best regards,
John
