Doug Morrisson, Creating a Separate Copy for Cerebro Testing #100861

Hello Doug,
Thank you for reaching out, and I’m glad you enjoyed the Cerebro webinar.
Yes, if you want a separate copy for testing, please do not manually edit the Brain files or try to change the GUID directly. The safer supported approach is to use a Brainzip backup and import it into a newly created Brain.
Please try this:
• First, create a Brainzip backup of the Brain you want to copy.
• Open TheBrain and create a new empty Brain. You can name it something like “Cerebro Test Copy” so it is easy to tell apart from your original Brain.
• With that new Brain open, go to Import and select the Brainzip file you created.
• When importing, choose the option to import it into the current Brain as a child thought.
• Let the import finish completely.
This will give you a separate local Brain with a new GUID, while preserving the content from the Brainzip import.
After the import finishes, the imported Brain content will appear under the first/new thought in the test Brain. If you want, you can reorganize it afterward, and you may remove the original starter thought if it is only being used as a container.
This avoids the GUID conflict and gives you a safer copy to experiment with for Cerebro testing.
Best regards,
John
