André Dragässer, BrainID and Sample Brain #100143

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/100143

Hello André,

Thank you for checking this.

I would not recommend manually changing the BrainID by unpacking the .brz file and editing the JSON files. That could damage the archive or create unsupported Brain identity issues.

If your goal is to create a fresh copy of an old Brain with a new Brain identity, the safer approach is:

• Create a new empty Brain

• Import the old Brain archive into the new Brain as a child thought

• Set the imported main thought as the Home thought

• If needed, delete the temporary parent thought afterward

That should give you a fresh Brain copy without manually editing the BrainID inside the archive.

One note, though: if the drag and drop issue only happens in the original old Brain, and the issue disappears after creating a fresh copy, then the new copy may not help us reproduce the original problem. For troubleshooting, the most useful sample would still be a Brain archive where the drag and drop issue happens after restore.

Best regards,

John
