Internal files difference between desktop and web version #99294

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99294

Hello Nick,

Thank you for the screenshots and for taking a close look at the statistics, that’s a good observation.

What you’re seeing is expected behavior. The desktop app and the web client calculate and report Brain statistics differently, especially for “internal files.” The web client includes additional system-generated and cloud-related files (such as indexing data and derived assets) that are not counted the same way in the desktop application.

This does not mean that attachments are missing, corrupted, or out of sync on your desktop Brain, and it does not indicate a failed sync or crash. There’s no action needed on your end, and your data is safe.

At the moment, there isn’t a report that maps these internal file counts back to specific thoughts, because the difference comes from how the environments measure supporting files rather than from missing user content.

I’m glad you asked, and thank you for the kind words about the web version. If you notice anything else that looks inconsistent or have more questions, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

John
