Resolved brain list blank or white error #99605

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99605

Hello Trevor,

Thank you for the detailed explanation, that helps a lot.

Based on what you described, this is consistent with the issue we recently identified where a local Brain registry entry can remain even after folders are manually deleted, causing:

• “No brains found”

• “Brain already exists” during import

• “Brain access is restricted” when attempting to open from web

• Automatic login despite app removal

This is not related to iCloud at this stage, its local metadata stored outside the Brains folder.

We’ve addressed this behavior in version 15.0.508.

Please install the latest build on your affected machines:

macOS

https://thebrain.com/download-mac-update?v=15.0.508.0

Windows

https://thebrain.com/download-windows-update?v=15.0.508.0

After installing 15.0.508:

  1. Launch the app
  2. Sign in if prompted
  3. Check whether your primary Brain appears in the list
  4. If not, try “Download from Cloud” instead of Import

You should no longer see the “already exists” conflict if this was the registry mismatch we fixed.

If the issue persists after 15.0.508, we’ll move to manually clearing the local Brain registration entries, but let’s test this build first since it directly targets the symptoms you’re seeing.

Thank you again for the thorough report, that made this much easier to narrow down.

Best regards,

John
