Update to #98941
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98941
Hello Matt,
Thank you for the additional recordings, they’re very helpful.
To help us narrow down what’s causing the delays you’re seeing, I have a few specific questions based on what appeared in the videos:
Regarding the PDF attachment
- Approximately how large is the PDF file you added?
- Did you drag the PDF into TheBrain directly from Finder, or from another app?
- Were you dropping it onto:
- an existing thought, or
- the Child “plex drop zone” to create a new thought?
- In Settings → User → General → Interface, what is your On File/Folder Drop setting currently set to (Copy, Move, or Link)?
If the thought was created successfully, you can safely dismiss the “Creating Thoughts…” notification by clicking the X. That part is only a UI issue, not a data problem.
Regarding the URL drag-and-drop
- Where are you dragging the URL from (for example, the browser address bar or a webpage)?
- What is the exact URL you’re dropping in?
If possible, an uncropped screen recording of the full TheBrain window showing the entire drag-and-drop process would be extremely helpful.
General performance check
You also showed a delay (spinning wheel) when creating a simple jump thought. This is not expected behavior. When you have a moment, could you please try the same actions in a brand new empty Brain and let us know:
- Does the delay happen there as well?
- Or only in the Brain shown in your recordings?
Finally, to make sure we’re looking at a clean log:
- Please close TheBrain completely
- Delete the current Output.log
- Relaunch TheBrain, reproduce the issue once
- Then send the newly generated log from:
- ~/.TheBrain/v9/Logs/Output.log
Thank you again for your patience and for taking the time to document this so clearly. We’ll take it from here once we have this information.
Best regards,
John
