Unsafe names iphone #98391

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/98391

Hello Bill,

Thank you for writing in and for explaining what you’ve already tried. You’re right, the Data Integrity Scan isn’t available on iOS, so it has to be run from the desktop app instead. We also have a patch in development that will prevent this situation from occurring on mobile in the future.

For now, here are a few ways forward:

Option 1 (recommended):

  1. On your iPad, open the Brain and create a .brz backup archive.
  2. Import that backup into the desktop app.
  3. Run the Data Integrity Scan on desktop (File › Utilities › Data Integrity Scan).
  4. Sync the Brain again.
  5. Re-download the Brain to your iPad from the cloud.

Option 2 (quick workaround):

  1. Delete the local copy of the Brain from your iPad.
  2. Re-download it from the cloud.
  3. (Before doing this, please confirm at https://app.thebrain.com that the latest version of your Brain is safely synced.)

Option 3 (check attachments):

If you recently added attachments, please make sure their filenames don’t include unsafe characters such as / \ : * ? < > | ". Renaming them on desktop and syncing again should resolve the issue.

Additionally, please send us the log file from your iPhone, which will help us identify the exact attachment causing the sync problem.

To get it:

Once we have that log, we’ll review it and advise on the next step.

Best regards,

John
