Based on the log, I can see you’re running TheBrain 15.0.96 on Windows, so thank you for already providing that context.

If the file drop setting is configured to link files, TheBrain should not be copying them, so we need to narrow down what’s different about the drag-and-drop source in your case.

Could you please let me know:

• Where the file is being dragged from (for example, a local folder, external drive, or a cloud-synced folder such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or iCloud)
• Whether this behavior happens consistently, or only with certain files
