TheBrain 14 fails to boot #94576
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/94576
Hello Uku,
The following are steps for how to resolve this issue when starting up TheBrain and seeing the following error message: "Failed to initialize indexing process." This is usually by a file lock in the index folder
First, please make sure to close all instances of TheBrain that are currently active on your machine.
Please navigate to the local app data folder for TheBrain:
Windows - C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\TheBrain
- Open File Explorer
- Right-click the File Path Bar near the top of the window and select Edit Address
- Type %LocalAppData% (without quotes)
- Scroll down and go to "TheBrain > Index"
- After locating the index folder, delete it.
macOS - Macintosh HD/Users/[user name]/.TheBrain/v9
- Open Finder
- Click on Go > Go to Folder
- Type "/.TheBrain" (without quotes)
- Go to the
v9folder - Scroll down and locate the "Index" folder
- Delete the entire index folder
This will help get rid of the corrupted files that are causing the restart issue.
After you've deleted this "Index" folder, please try launching TheBrain 14 once again and let us know if it starts up successfully or not.
Please let us know if you have any issues with this or if you have any further questions, In case issues persist, the next best step would be to schedule a web meeting for real-time troubleshooting. Let me know your availability for next week, and we can arrange a session to resolve this together.
Best wishes,
John
