Sync Error Caused by Modified Downloaded Sync Data #101355
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/101355
Hello Sherman,
Thank you for the log.
Our team reviewed it and found that TheBrain is rejecting the sync download because the data arriving on your machine does not match what the server sent.
In the log, the server sends a sync delta with an expected compressed length of 3,703 bytes, but your machine receives 3,988 bytes. Because the downloaded sync data has been changed in transit, TheBrain refuses to apply it. That is the safe behavior, and your Brain data is not being lost.
This usually points to something on the network or machine modifying downloads before they reach TheBrain, such as:
- SSL inspection,
- corporate proxy/security filtering,
- antivirus or endpoint protection,
- DLP/content filtering,
- or similar network/security software.
As a quick test, please try syncing from a different network, such as:
- home Wi-Fi,
- a phone hotspot,
- or with the corporate VPN disconnected, if applicable.
We would expect sync to work normally on a network that is not rewriting or inspecting the downloaded sync data.
For a permanent fix, your IT team may need to exempt TheBrain traffic from SSL inspection or content rewriting, especially:
*.thebrain.com
and specifically:
api.thebrain.com
Again, your data appears intact. The error is happening because TheBrain is detecting altered sync data and refusing to apply it.
Best regards,
John
