Jan Dirk, Text document versus Markdown document templates #100331

https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/100331

Hello Jan Dirk,

Thank you for reaching out.

In the screenshot, you are looking at the File Templates section. These templates control what kind of new file can be created from TheBrain.

A Text document is a plain text file, usually .txt. It is best for simple text without formatting.

A Markdown document is usually .md. It is still text based, but it can include Markdown formatting such as headings, lists, links, and other simple formatting syntax.

A Word document is different. It would need to be a Microsoft Word file template, usually .docx. You would not normally change the Markdown template into a Word document. Instead, you would add or use a Word document template.

You can find more about File Templates here:

If you are asking about exporting notes from TheBrain instead, open the note, click the three dots in the note toolbar to show more options, then choose Export. Notes can be exported to formats such as Markdown, PDF, HTML, or text.

Best regards,

John
