Question on Global Replace #97301
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97301
Hello Matt,
Thanks for reaching out, glad to hear you found that feature useful!
What you experienced is based on what we call the “comma trick.” It works like this:
When creating a child or jump thought, if you prefix the name with a comma (e.g., ,January), TheBrain will retain the context of the parent in the displayed title.
For example:
- You create a parent thought called
2024 - Then you create a child thought by typing
,January - The result will appear as
2024, January
Now, if you later rename the parent from 2024 to 2025, any thought that was created using this method will automatically update to reflect the new context e.g., 2025, January.
This only applies to thoughts that were created using that comma-based context formatting. If you're not seeing it happen, it's possible the thoughts were named directly (without the comma), in which case they won’t be linked for automatic renaming.
