3 Types of Vaccination
There are 3 types of vaccination:
- Inactivated / Killed vaccines use viruses / bacteria that have been processed to be dead or non-infectious.
- Live attenuated (weakened) vaccines contain weakened form of actual pathogens, which have the risk of causing slight diseases but provide stronger & longer-lasting immune response.
- Sub-unit/recombinant (lab produced parts) conjugate (stick together by protein) vaccines use specific parts of the pathogen (e.g. proteins/sugars) to trigger an immune response.
