What is Megahertz (MHz)

Megahertz (MHz) is a way to measure how fast a processor in a computer or device works. Think of it like the speedometer in a car but for your computer's brain. One MHz equals one million cycles per second (Hz). Each cycle is a tiny task or instruction the processor can complete.

When a processor is said to have a speed of 1 MHz, it means it can handle one million tiny tasks in just one second. If the processor has a higher MHz, like 3500 MHz (which is the same as 3.5 GHz), it's much faster than one with 1200 MHz (or 1.2 GHz). This means it can do more tasks in the same amount of time.

However, MHz isn't everything. The overall speed and efficiency of a computer also depend on other things like how many cores it has (which is like having multiple brains), how much quick-access memory (cache) it has, and its design (architecture). But generally, more MHz means a faster processor, which usually makes the computer quicker at doing tasks.
