This is an Index Entry in the Climate Web. If you’re not familiar with the role of the Climate Web’s Index, check out the Role of the Index thought. The Climate Web’s 4,000+ Index Entries are a great way to quickly find your way to virtually any spot in the Climate Web, in part because they’re optimized to be easily searched for: Searching the Climate Web?, and in part because they’re all connected together into their own “knowledge web,” allowing you to click your way through the universe of climate topics.
This is not a Deep Dive Index Entry, but you may see one as a Parent thought to this one. About 100 Deep Dive Index Entries provide the largest “doorways” into the Climate Web, representing as they do some of the broadest and/or substantively most important climate-relevant topics. Deep Dive Index Entries generally have a lot of Child thoughts, or “regular” Index Entries, that allow you to get more granular with your exploration of a topic.
Regular Index Entries, because they are more granular than Deep Dive Index Entries, will attempt to link you (via Jump thoughts) to more granular content. You may still see Topical Headings, but you’ll also tend to see a lot more individual thoughts than Topical Headings, especially the deeper down you dive in the Index. Some Index Entries may literally link to just one specific thought.
You can always tell what kind of content you’re seeing through the Climate Web’s Key to Types and Icons. Take a look if you’re not familiar with them, and then your browser’s backspace key to return here.
Don’t assume that all relevant Climate Web content is linked to every Index Entry. Although we’re always adding new content to Index Entries, it’s too gargantuan a task to ever be completed. That’s why you should also click on related Index Entries, and take advantage of the ability to Search the Climate Web.
Note that while you’re obviously able to see this Index Entry even with Open Access, that’s not the case of all Index Entries. To take full advantage of the Climate Web’s Index, and to access ALL its content, subscribe to Premium Access!
