Pathways to Deep Decarbonization
Pathways to Deep Decarbonization
You're probably familiar with the fact that the human mind is drawn toward the idea of Silver Bullets, or at least Silver Buckshot, when it comes to solving problems, even problems as complicated as climate change. This page Level 4 Entry Point to the Climate Web focuses on a 2018 report that summarizes more than 1,000 potential polices and measures that would advance the goal of decarbonizing the U.S. economy, organizing them by actors, sectors, and types of interventions. It's a huge report with many contributors, and you can access it here in the Climate Web:

The goal of this Entry Point, however, is not to comprehensively cover all of the materials and recommendations in the report. Instead, its goal is to introduce you to the idea that hundreds of ways to advance the goal of climate change mitigation have already been catalogued and thought through. What if there were a systematic effort to organize and prioritize these options in time and by geography, and then think about how to activate the constituencies that could help move them forward.
In the "child thoughts" at left you'll see organized subsets of the more than 1,000 options identified in the 2018 report. These are by no means all of the ways in which the 1,000 options are sliced and diced in the report, but they offer you a flavor of the report's contents. Topical Dashboards in the Climate Web offer a complete categorization, as well as integrating these options into the many other options flagged in the Climate Web as Team Urgency pieces and moves in playing Climate Chess.
