Module 10 Learning Activity

So let's recap this module about using your money to help slow climate breakdown. There are obviously many ways that you could use your money -- small amounts of money or large amounts -- plenty of ways to spend that money.
In the learning activity and in the ebook, we'll include additional links to some places that we've run into and that others have recommended as being good places to send money to -- places that are vetted, because there are plenty of places you could spend money on that aren’t accomplishing much at all.
Ideally you want to pay attention to people who are tracking these things and trying to figure out what's the most effective way of spending your money. We'll point you to some of those resources in the learning activity and in the E-book.
Another key takeaway is that let's spend money on good things -- but let's also think about spending less money on bad things and gratuitous consumption, as represented by this photo in the slide of a house under construction. I have a house under construction near me that is just ginormous, and I mentioned earlier the Street of Dreams houses. If you tour some of these enormous houses, you might see that they have two heating systems because the house is too big for one heating system!
Everything is duplicated because the house is so big. Well, that is just crazy from a climate perspective. It’s very hard to see how we ever make significant progress on climate change with the amount of gratuitous consumption that is going on today.
The next module coming up is using your frustration. I originally had called it Using your Anger. I thought maybe using your frustration would be a better title for the module. In some ways, it's a variation on using your voice, but it gets more into not just your voice, but becoming more of an activist.
If there was something in addition to your voice that I would recommend as perhaps the most impactful thing that you could engage with, it would be becoming more of a climate activist -- using your frustration about climate change and expressing your frustration about climate breakdown through activism.
And that's what we're going to dig into in the next module.
