iPad & iPhone Share Test Summary
iPad & iPhone Test Summary
Feb 2020 Update: Recent fixes have been reported to resolve most of the synced access sharing bugs. Will update this and any related thoughts after testing again later on. . . .
Test Conditions * 02.13.20
- Pro brain (with attachments) shared via email with a free brain account, providing Read-only access. This shared brained was viewed as a Reader in the free account on both iPad and iPhone. Auto-sync was turned OFF ~ and all syncing was done manually.
- The problem (reported below and in previous testing) with shared/synced updates not showing up immediately was also confirmed when sharing a Pro brain with another Pro brain account.
iPad Test Results
- Sync on previously downloaded brain appeared to work properly, and changes to thought notes (only) DID display immediately.
- However, when new thoughts were added and deleted, and when attachment names were changed, NO changes displayed after syncing until the Reader navigated away from the brain and then returned.
- When deleted thoughts were still visible and accessed in the plex, there were no error messages until the Reader attempted to access the attachments on the deleted thought, at which point an error message indicated the attached files could not be downloaded. (Deleted thoughts finally did disappear after the Reader navigated away from the brain and then returned.)
- In 2 out 3 tests, forgotten thoughts never DID disappear after syncing, even after the Reader navigated away from and then returned to the brain display.
iPhone Test Results
- The initial Brain download included the current content along with a thought that should have been forgotten. This forgotten thought was still visible in the iPhone plex.
- After changes had been made to the original brain, the iPhone initially indicated there were NO changes to sync.
- Later the iPhone eventually DID sync, but NONE of the recent changes appeared in the brain.
- At this point, the iPhone brain was deleted and reinstalled, at which point the original downloaded content appeared with NONE of the recent changes.
