✦ Better Search < MZ Review
Search has been substantially overhauled for more relevant results and faster performance:
- Type just a couple of letters and the thought you mean appears at the top
- Exact name matches, and shorter more on-the-nose names, now rank at the top
- Recently edited or visited thoughts, and pinned thoughts, rank higher
- Name matches are no longer drowned out by long notes
- Exclusion searches now work: "cat -dog" or "cat !dog" excludes "dog"
- Quoted phrases like "a tale of two cities" now match correctly
- Accent-insensitive: searching "cafe" finds "café"
- Names containing commas, underscores, hyphens, or dots match on either part
- Faster searching and indexing on large brains
✦ When a search query has invalid syntax, a message now appears below the search box and the search falls back to a simplified interpretation
✓ Fixes and Improvements
✓ Fixed: Shift+Up sometimes failed to extend the selection in notes
✓ Fixed: A single-letter thought name (like "A") no longer underlines every standalone occurrence of that letter in notes when "Show Mentioned Names Always" is on
✓ Fixed: Report filter menus now show the check column before a selection is made, and stay in sync with the current query when switching between Simple and Advanced modes
