SPECTATOR AS PERFORMER
SPECTATOR AS PERFORMER
The spectator:
- chooses where to look;
- holds or withdraws attention;
- changes the performer’s behaviour;
- occupies a visible role;
- produces an atmosphere;
- participates in the power relation.
Wearing a mask intensified the spectator’s awareness of being framed.
Spectatorship became an action rather than an absence of action.
