OSKAR SCHLEMMER

BODY BECOMES SPATIAL FIGURE

Schlemmer's Bauhaus Stage and Triadic Ballet ask what happens to movement when the human body is reconceived through geometry. The issue is not costume appearance but the conversion of organic body into abstract form and spatial figure.

Mensch ↔ Raum ↔ Form.

The body remains living, organic, and variable while geometry is abstract, measurable, and ordered.

CONCEPTUAL CHILDREN

Costume does not merely represent character. It alters proportion, restricts or amplifies movement, changes balance, redesigns silhouette, and transforms spatial behaviour. Costume produces a different body.

Body + costume + geometry + space = new movement.

Meyerhold: training designs action.

Schlemmer: costume + space design action.

Movement can be designed from inside and outside the body. Inside: training, habit, technique. Outside: costume, object, space, architecture.

The performer is not simply a machine, but the tension human ↔ mechanical and individual ↔ type remains unresolved. What is lost when the individual body becomes an abstract human figure?

Removal audit: without Schlemmer, the Brain loses the decisive account of costume and geometry as technologies that produce movement and spatial behaviour.
