OBJECTS AS AGENTS
OBJECTS AS AGENTS
An object is not merely a passive instrument controlled by a human subject.
It can:
- determine bodily orientation;
- create expectation;
- impose weight;
- interrupt movement;
- resist intention;
- generate rhythm;
- alter a composition;
- produce language;
- reveal habitual behaviour.
The performer and object choreograph one another.
