A. Encounter / lineage

The Primordial Science encounter transmits a practice of decentring the human performer through matter, landscape, touch, dream, sensory tuning and unstable bodily form.

B. Protocol & practices

Cleaning the space is not merely preparation; it establishes an attentive relation to the site. “Minnow swimming upstream” gives the body an image of moving against habitual flow. “Forget the form” means temporarily releasing the demand to reproduce a recognizable formal result. Superpositioning the senses allows touch, vision, weight, sound, dream and spatial orientation to overlap rather than remain separate channels. Accordage, or tuning, means adjusting sensory attention to body, material, environment and relation.

The clay body on the clay floor makes material process central. Clay is not a prop: bodily action marks the material, while resistance, texture, weight and deformation reorganize bodily action. Body transforms matter and matter transforms body. Matter may be lost, accumulated, displaced or compacted; a collapsing skeleton and imaginary anatomy allow bodily structure to be formed and deformed without treating anatomy as a fixed representational template.

C. What the practice trains

The protocol trains the performer to suspend formal control, notice material feedback and allow landscape, touch and dream to alter action. Decentring the human means suspending the assumption that human intention must dominate matter, space and non-human processes. Object agency is an artistic proposition: an object need not literally possess intention for its resistance, movement or placement to reorganize the event.

D. What remains artistically important

The technique worth preserving is sensory accordage: a flexible tuning of attention across body, clay, floor, landscape, touch, image and dream. “Forgetting form” can make unexpected form possible because it interrupts the demand to repeat an already recognizable result. The performer becomes a participant in a material ecology rather than the sole author of action.

E. Productive tension / resistance

Decentring can become another aesthetic identity or a romantic claim that matter is automatically more truthful than human intention. Cleaning, tuning and release still require choices and structures. The practice should therefore preserve material openness while making authorship, labour and conditions visible.
