DAY 4 — COMPLEX SIMPLICITY, PARTNERING & LIVE IMAGE LOOPS

PROTOCOL — DAY 4

DATE

20 March 2025

PHYSICAL PREPARATION

The protocol documents floor stretches, single-leg work, bridges, side planks, regular planks, one-arm/one-leg planks, leg swings, spinal and hip preparation, balance and breath.

AUTHORSHIP SAFEGUARD

The written protocol credits the warm-up to a CPPM participant, while one video is titled “Sasha’s warm up.”

SOURCE DISCREPANCY — WARM-UP AUTHORSHIP IS INCONSISTENTLY LABELLED.

Do not present the full warm-up as an original Sasha Pepelyaev training system.

PARTNERING

Physical work continued with lifts, contact partnering, duet composition, trio composition and two set phrases.

LIVE IMAGE EXPERIMENTATION

The group explored black backgrounds, light clothing, retained frames, loops, delayed images, performer duplication, encounters with past/future screen selves, single-file patterns and composite bodies.

ÉTUDE 3 — SIMPLE ACTION / COMPLICATED METHOD

Choose a basic action and perform it through an unnecessarily complex or strange method. The complication needed a reason or consequence; complexity alone was insufficient.

OPTIONAL BONUSES

Possible bonuses included a mermaid, repeated sound, repeated movement, sudden stillness, a physical element from partnering, a strong smell and someone moving on all fours.

CORE / LAYER

Distinguish CORE TASK from OPTIONAL LAYER. The audience should recognise the simple action being complicated.

REPETITION

Repetition could transform gesture, embrace, sound, pathway or object action into rhythm, metaphor, compulsion, ritual or disturbance.
