ALEKSEI GASTEV
MEASUREMENT BECOMES HUMAN ENGINEERING
Gastev belongs to the Russian Revolution, industrialization, the new social order, the Central Institute of Labour, and the scientific organization of labour. Taylor analyses existing labour; Gastev attempts the active reconstruction of the worker.
Body can be measured → body can be trained → body can be re-engineered.
Training produces new gestures, rhythms, habits, reflexes, and movement patterns:
Training → repetition → habit → automation.

This is not merely dehumanizing. Its revolutionary premise is that old social relations produced old habits; a new society may require new bodies and behaviours. The same premise creates the danger of standardization.
Collective emancipation ↔ individual standardization.
New human ↔ standardized human.
Utopian transformation ↔ technological discipline.
The relation to Meyerhold concerns rhythm, training, precision, economy of movement, industrial culture, and the new human. It is historically informed but not an assertion that Meyerhold simply applied Gastev.
Removal audit: without Gastev, the Brain loses the decisive transition from measurable body to trainable, engineerable, and politically redesigned human.
