ENVIRONMENT DISTRIBUTES ATTENTION
ENVIRONMENT DISTRIBUTES ATTENTION
Edward compares the simple workshop room with the designed environment of a Punchdrunk production such as Sleep No More.
In a large immersive environment, attention may be distributed through architecture, lighting, scale, set, routes, multiple performers and cinematic framing.
In the rehearsal room, those elements were stripped back.
The relation between performer and masked watcher therefore became unusually exposed.
Sleep No More is contextual comparison only. It was not a CPPM workshop exercise.
