1. So What's a Thought Anyway?

The concept of a "thought" is central to TheBrain software and the terminology is used a lot. First lets talk a bit about what a thought is when using TheBrain.

I like to think of a thought as an information node, that is, it represents and contains information about a single topic. In the software, a thought can contain any or all of the following:

A note

One or more files

One or more hyperlinks

An image (you can also add images to the notes but a thought image shows up next to the thought text on the plex)

In the computer's filing system you can have a folder that contains files. In the folder you could put a note, and a file, and a picture, and they would all be separate files inside the folder. In TheBrain when you make the thought active you can not only see the files that are associated with it, but also the notes and the images at the same time.

To illustrate what I mean by a thought acting as a representation of information I've included examples of the different ways you can use thoughts below as child thoughts. Click them below to learn more about them.
