AIMS Framework

[Dave Snowden]

• AIMS is fundamentally what you can manage within any system
  • Actants
  • Interactions
  • Monitors
  • Scaffolding

• Central to this managing approach is the crucial task of stimulating and monitoring the generation of emergent properties

• It’s an update for earlier thoughts
  • What can we Manage in the Complex Domain
  • Complexity Principles when designing intervention
  • Heuristics as Enabling constraints

• Main purpose is to avoid
  • Pattern entrainment
  • Retrospective coherence
  • Premature convergence
