Methoxyflavonoid
Methoxyflavonoids are flavonoids with methylations on hydroxyl groups. O-methylation affects the solubility of flavonoids.
Some examples of methoxyflavonoids include:
- 5-Methyl-7-hydroxyisoflavone ethylcarbonate ester: Inhibits bacterial efflux pumps
- Acacetin: A naturally occurring O-methylated flavone found in plants
- Isosakuranetin: Suppresses UV-B-induced matrix metalloproteinase-1 expression and collagen degradation
- 5-Methoxyflavone: Believed to have superior biological activity
- 7-Methoxyflavone: Found in certain plants and can also be produced in a laboratory
- Pachypodol: Has antiemetic and antimutagenic effects, and cytotoxic effects in several cancer cell lines
Flavonoids have a number of medicinal benefits, including:
Anticancer, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, Antiviral, Neuroprotective, Cardio-protective
