Person-Centred Theory
Also known as person-centred therapy
PERSON-CENTRED THEORY
Person-centred theory or therapy was developed by the esteemed pyschologist Carl Rogers (1902-1987). It is a theory and an approach to psychology and counselling which he pioneered. At its heart it focuses on people, the individual, the client or patient. It elevates the patient, client or individual. At its core it comes from the Humanism Philosophical School of thought which emphasizes human potential. Carl Rogers carries this idea over into person-centred theory.
