Open in TheBrain

New Features v.15, July 2026

Link every unlinked mention of a thought throughout a note in one step — click or right-click a mention and choose to link them all

Trigger the Action: Click or right-click on an unlinked mention of a thought within your note.

Select the Option: Choose the command to link them all, which links every unlinked mention of that thought throughout the note in a single step.

The feature specifically requires clicking or right-clicking on an unlinked mention of a thought within your note to trigger the command that links them all.

Highlighting multiple texts: You mentioned having two texts highlighted. The feature is designed to be triggered on a specific mention rather than a general text highlight.

Text format: Ensure the highlighted text actually matches an existing thought name in your brain so the app recognizes it as a valid thought mention rather than regular plain text.

Yes, you are correct! In TheBrain, text with that underline (often a dashed or dotted line) indicates that the app has automatically recognized it as an unlinked mention matching an existing thought name in your brain.

To use the new "link them all" feature properly when you want to link a specific mention:

  1. Do not highlight or select multiple texts manually. Highlighting text manually triggers the browser/editor's general text selection menu instead of the thought-mention context menu.

  2. Click or right-click directly on the underlined word or phrase (the unlinked mention itself) without dragging to highlight it.

  3. From the context menu that pops up specifically for that thought mention, choose the command to link them all (which will link every unlinked instance of that thought throughout the note in one step).
Suggested New Feature:

Oh, so it only does the same thought, not all unlinked mentions for other thoughts?

Single Thought Scope: Yes, that is correct. The "link them all" command links every unlinked instance of that specific thought throughout the note in one step, rather than linking multiple different thoughts simultaneously.

Repeating for Other Thoughts:

If you have unlinked mentions for other distinct thoughts in your note, you will need to click or right-click on each of those respective underlined terms individually and select the command for each one.
