Title Links
In TheBrain 15, Title Links refer to the automatic or manual linking mechanisms used to connect text inside your notes to specific thoughts within your database, heavily integrated with the version's upgraded Markdown and text-parsing engine.
Depending on the context of how you are structuring your notes and data, the term covers a few key functions:
1. Thought Title Mentions and Auto-Linking
When typing in the Notes Editor (which natively saves as standard GitHub Flavored Markdown in v.15), TheBrain scans your text against the titles of your existing thoughts:
- Unlinked Mentions / Auto-Recognition: If text inside your note matches the title of another thought in your Brain, the application recognizes it. You can quickly turn these matching text titles into active Thought Links (
brain://URLs) so that clicking the title text directly navigates your Plex to that connected thought.
- Inline Thought Titles: Version 15 expanded the ability to reference and manipulate thought titles directly inline within note blocks, ensuring that if a thought title changes, the relational references and markdown links stay synchronized.
2. Markdown Link Syntax for Thought Titles
In v.15's hybrid WYSIWYG/Markdown editor, standard markdown link formatting is used to bind a custom display name or title to a specific internal thought or external web target:
- Format:
[Thought Title](https://app.thebrain.com/brain/7f601502-fd8b-40ea-ba42-6843c4d95fbd/00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000)
- This allows you to write readable, clean prose where a specific phrase or Title Link acts as the anchor text pointing to a distinct node in your digital brain, keeping your notes clean while maintaining a dense web of knowledge connections.
