Keep properties visible when scrolling
In TheBrain, the setting "Keep properties visible when scrolling" (typically found in your preferences or UI layout settings) controls how the metadata of a selected Thought behaves when you are scrolling through a long content pane, note, or attachment list.
Here is exactly what it means and why it's useful:
What It Does
- When Enabled (Checked): The top bar or header panel of your active Thought—which shows the Thought Name, Type, Tags, Icons, and core properties—stays pinned (sticky) at the top of the content area. Even if you scroll deep down into a massive note or a long list of file attachments, you will always see exactly which Thought you are currently working in and what its tags/properties are.
- When Disabled (Unchecked): The entire properties header scrolls up and out of view along with the note. If you scroll down a long page, the Thought name and its tags disappear off the top of the screen.
Why You'd Use It
- Context Tracking: If you regularly write long, exhaustive notes or attach dozens of files to a single node, pinning the properties ensures you never lose track of your location in the Plex.
- Quick Editing: It allows you to quickly add/change a tag or adjust a thought type at any moment without having to scroll all the way back to the top of the note pane.
If you prefer maximum vertical screen real estate for reading your notes, you might turn it off; if you prioritize quick categorization and keeping your context locked, it's best to leave it on.
Are you trying to optimize your note layout, or are you running into an issue where the properties panel is taking up too much space on your screen?
