TAIGA GOLD CORP, SAM PROPERTY
The 1004 ha SAM Property lies 15km west of Flin Flon Manitoba and approximately 10 km NW of both the Flexar and Birch Lake mines. The property hosts considerable potential for structurally hosted gold mineralization which is the focus of exploration efforts. It also is host to the the SAM Zone, a volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VMS”) polymetallic deposit with a historical resource (non-43-101 compliant) of 29,024 tonnes at 2.95% Cu. Access is by winter road or float plane to the north end of Amisk Lake where drill roads access the property. Float/ski plane can be used to access Wolverine Lake within the property.
The claims are 100% owned by Taiga Gold Corp. with no underlying royalties or encumbrances.
Project Highlights
- Excellent geology highly prospective for Orogenic gold and VMS mineralization

*Taiga Gold Corp. management considers the mineral resource estimates to be historical in nature and cautions that a Qualified Person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimates as current mineral resources or mineral reserves in accordance with National Instrument 43-101. These estimates do not comply with current definitions prescribed by National Instrument 43-101 or the Canadian Institute of Mining, and are disclosed only as indications of the presence of mineralization and are considered to be a guide for additional work. The historical models and data sets used to prepare these historical estimates are not available to Taiga Gold Corp., nor are any more recent resource estimates or drill information on the Property.
Geology
The SAM property is located in the Flin Flon belt a relatively low metamorphic grade component of the Early Proterozoic Trans-Hudson Orogeny. The Flin Flon Belt is subdivided into five assemblages including the Amisk Collage, host to the Sam Tenure. These five tectonostratigraphic assemblages are separated by major faults or intervening turbidites, felsic intrusions and older basement assemblages. The Sam Tenure is dominated by rocks comprised primarily of volcanics, which are then unconformably overlain by the sediments of the Missi Group followed by intrusions ranging in composition from granitic to ultramafic.
The Amisk Collage forms a major greenstone belt which hosts the majority of the base metal deposits in the Flin Flon – Snow Lake areas as well as some gold deposits. The Amisk Collage is composed of subaerial to subaqueous mafic to rhoylitic lavas, fragmental and locally derived volcaniclastic sediments. The Missi Group consists of clastic sediments that unconformably overlie the Amisk Group. The clastic sediments range from coarse, polymictic conglomerates to arenite/wackes and feldspar crystal tuffs/porphyries.
The project is underlain by NW trending, SW dipping belts of differing lithological units. From the NE to the SW of the project these lithological units include: the felsic Reynard Lake Plutonic Complex, mafic flows and mafic volcaniclastics of the Birch Lake assemblage, the Mosher Lake Shear zone between the Birch Lake assemblage to the northeast and ultramafic intrusions, mafic volcanics of the Sandy Bay assemblage and the Missi Group sediments to the southwest. All rock types in the area have been cut by numerous generations of felsic-mafic intrusions.
Mineral Zones
The SAM property hosts multiple zones of mineralization of which 6 are briefly outlined below:
| Zone Name | Comments |
|---|---|
| Black PrinceCu-Au VMS Zone | Located in the SE area of the property and is a NW striking/SW dipping zone of sulphide mineralization hosted within shear zones. |
| SAM Zone- SAM discovery hole and SAM deposit | Situated ~300m apart in the north central area of the claims. Hosts a non-43-101 compliant historical resource of 29,024 tonnes @ 2.95% Cu over a strike of 200m and up to 50m wide, open below 200m. Mineralization is defined as Konuto Lake type SAM discovery hole returned assayed 1.16 g/t Au, 0.3% Cu, 0.09% Zn including 0.3 m of 1.85 g/t Au, 0.96% Cu and 0.27% Zn from 11.6-13.5m. Three anomalous base metal zones were intersected below including 1.09% Cu from 44.96-46.33m |
| TEA Zone | Associated with a gold showing located ~2.2 km SE of the Sam VMS deposit. Drilling intersected 1.15 g/t Au and 0.5 g/t Ag over 0.92m at 34m |
| Wolverine Zone West | In the west area of the claims, channel sampling as wide as 1.0 m reurned assays of up to 24.61 g/t Au with many reporting >3.1 g/t Au |
| Wolverine Zone North | Also in the west area of the claims, samples reported as high as 4.28 g/t Au from 5-20 cm wide quartz stringer veins. An IP resistivity survey was followed by 6 drill holes, 4 encountered gold bearing veins returning assays up to 2.7 g/t over 0.97m |
| Golden Bear Shear Zone | Located in the SE of the property is 15-20m wide with quartz-tourmaline-carbonate veining common throughout the shear. Channel sampling of the Dingo-Dingue vein returned assays from 0.93-10.23 g/t Au with the best result being 9.61 g/t Au over 1.55m |
History
A total of 12 government programs including reviews, mapping, sampling and geophysical surveying were carried out between1954 and 2010.
Industry exploration efforts comprised of 26 programs between 1952 and 2011 including a total of 78 drill holes, airborne and ground-based geophysical surveying, channel and trench sampling, lithogeochemical and biogeocemical sampling, petrography, geological mapping, rock and soil sampling, prospecting.
Geophysical surveying and mapping identified numerous conductive trends that correlate with areas of sulphide mineralization. Geological mapping concluded that rock types and structural trends were similar to those observed at the Birch Lake and Flexar VMS mines located to the southeast.
Taiga Gold Corp. Exploration
In 2018 a desk top study was performed in order to compile all existing geological information which was incorporated into a database. From this, an analysis was conducted and recommendations for future work were made.
Future Work
Recommendations include testing gold targets with 1-2 lines of IP-Resistivity geophysics over each showing deemed prospective and to use this in conjunction with detailed trench mapping to define targets at depth.
VMS targets recommendations are for further lithogeochemical and soil sampling along and beyond the prospective conductor trends to delineate hydrothermal alteration and be followed up with drilling. At the Sam Zone it is recommended that consideration be given to testing more modern, deeper penetrating geophysical methods to target mineralization below 200 m.
