Details

The Black Rock Canyon property is favorably located within the Cortez trend of the Battle Mountain – Eureka belt, a productive and rapidly growing gold mining district. The Pipeline – Cortez mining complex, about 10mi to 14.5mi southeast of the Black Rock Canyon property contains a total of more than 45 million ounces of gold (documented past production plus reserves and resources). Additional Measured and Indicated resources of 9.4 million ounces of gold, and Inferred resources of 11.9 million ounces, have been defined at the Goldrush deposit. The Pipeline, Cortez and Goldrush deposits are disseminated Carlin- type gold deposits hosted by Devonian-Silurian carbonate rocks of the Wenban Limestone, Horse Canyon Formation, and Roberts Mountains Formation beneath the Roberts Mountain Thrust fault (“RMT”). Highlights of previous surface samples ( a total of 185 ) returned gold grades ranging from 2.02 g Au/t and a maximum of 109.7 Au/T (3,2oz Au/ton)

1907

First Placer Gold Discovered

Most of the historical work was carried out over a 3-4 mile section in Mud Springs Gulch but older exploration pits are evident throughout the property

1930s

Exploration Continues

Thirty exploration shafts were sunk through the gravel to bedrock in an exploration program in the 1930s.

1940s

Gold being Processed

1,627 ounces of gold and 160 ounces of silver were produced throughout the 1940s.

1970s - 1980s

Barite Mining

In 1978, Major Barite Inc. implemented an operation to mine and process barite from several small, open pits within the project area. The mill was built near the highway and the water and electric services established. In 1982 the barite market collapsed and they turned their attention to the placer gold resources on the property. The barite mill was converted to recover placer gold and Major Barite started an exploration, bulk sampling program in the drainages for gold. Trenches and pits were dug and processed from locations on Black Rock Canyon, Mud Springs Gulch, Tub Springs Gulch and Rosebud Gulch. A widespread occurrence of placer gold was discovered.

1984-2001

Small Production Continues

The property was operated under a small miner’s permit which allowed for a minimal production rate, but provided a modest cash flow over many years.

2005-2009

Property Acquired by Nevada Rae Gold

Nevada Rae Gold, a subsidiary of Pacific Gold Corp, intermittently explored portions of the property for placer gold from 2006 through 2009 and carried out bulk sampling and small- scale test mining of alluvial material in the Black Rock Canyon portion of the property.

2015-2018

Property Acquired by New Gold Nevada

During 2016 through 2018, New Gold Nevada collected 622 surface samples from placer-bearing gravel within the property and processed these samples using gravity concentration equipment. A total of 185 samples produced concentrates with sufficient gold to weigh and calculate a recovered gold grade. The recovered gold grades averaged 2.02g Au/t (0.059oz Au/ton), with a minimum of 0.01g Au/t (0.0003oz Au/ton), a maximum of 109.7g Au/t (3.2oz Au/ton), and a median of 0.20g Au/t (0.006oz Au/ton).
