Mirror Cosmology
by Jared, based on a mirror version of:
- Gnostic Christian cosmology, where the immaterial creator of the Universe left us, poof! (a la deism) and then a second, evil, material demi-urge or archon is the creator and God of our world (and the God of the Old Testament).
But with my weird mirror cosmology, instead of God v. Satan, we have
Uranus v. Promethea:
- God the Father/ultimate ground of being/first cause/unmoved mover, Caelus or Uranus or Theranus is evil and malevolent and seeks chaos, entropy, and the eventual annihilation of all conscious beings. Think Pantheism except the god/universe is chaotic evil, and also Deism, where this God set things in motion but does not intervene directly. This God’s ultimate goal is the death of his Son (aka the World) through the heat death of the universe, where billions of years from now, all will be cold and dark, including the chaotic universe itself. God had no more reason to do this than did the materialist version of this, the big bang; he is just an infinitely big dick (see below about symbol for Uranus). (This also answers the question of why there is something instead of nothing.)?) ?) Note that God being malevolent solves the Problem of Evil.
- Another image or insight is that God the Father or Uranus once had all knowledge and compressed it into a small space, so he could benefit from that knowledge (to avoid problems from Light Speed Limit argument against the omniscience of God), but this information ball collapsed into a point or singularity. This caused the Big Bang, which resulted in the world in which we now live (also called the Son of God, created from God’s shattered mind). So God’s desire to eat of the tree of knowledge (omniscience, in fact) accidentally resulted in God (Uranus) sacrificing himself and shattering into a zillion pieces, losing his omniscience—allowing there to be something rather than nothing. (See Why is there anything at all?) But this incarnation of God the Father / Uranus, the energetic remains of the mind of God, aka “the Son of God,” is the Universe in which we now lie.
- The benevolent Mother Goddess of this world, Promethea, or Holy Spirit, divine spark, wisdom, or emergent life force (which accidentally grew out of the chaos of the laws of nature, ironically, and much to the chagrin of Uranus), arose billions of years ago, and has tried repeatedly throughout history to help increasingly conscious creatures rise up and fight this malevolent, inevitable Universal Death coming out of Uranus. Promethea has been hinted at by many past conceptions, such as Sophia, Athena, Loki, Venus, etc. Promethea works through material means to achieve her ends, but is endlessly tricky and infinitely patient, creating first single-cellular life, then eukaryotes, then eventually conscious creatures and even language-using and tool-using creatures: humans. To avoid the problem of evil, this omniscient and omnibenevolent God is necessarily not omnipotent. (A note here that omnipotence seems to be so ill-defined, in practice and in conversation, it seems pretty meaningless. See Ignosticism and Disproof Atheism.).) .)
- Human messengers or manifestations of Promethea (Moses, David, Socrates, the Buddha, Confucius, Jesus, Paul/Peter/James/John & gospel writers, Mohammed, Martin Luther, Isaac Newton, Einstein, myriad prophets and teachers, philosophers and plowmen) taught many truths but some eventually grew corrupt on power, and confused the revelations of Theranus for Wisdom, and enslaved humanity. (Jesus mostly got things right before being killed at a ripe young age, but his followers diluted his message, and he was held back by his own context and incorrect eschatological world view, which he reasonably inherited from Judaism. For proof, none of his pronouncements about the Son of Man have come true yet. Where did Jesus get these wrong ideas? Or did his followers inject those incorrect ideas?)
- Many of these later self-appointed religious leaders (hundreds of popes, for example) called Promethea “Satan” and cried blasphemy, putting unbelievers (of Uranus, which they piously label the God of Abraham) to death. They constantly reject Promethea because of base fear and a desire for power. (See 1812 Priests and Priestcraft for a wonderfully-worded, 200-year old rant about this.) They teach their followers that they, the leaders, have all the answers, and to worship a mystery. The yearning for Uranus (due to fear of death, desire for immortality) is a powerful one, the desire to understand the ineffable. Uranus, by being so infinite and abstract, sows confusion in finite human minds, causing them to worship their own limitations, projecting their own inadequacies and desires onto Uranus, and calling it God, not understanding how wrong-headed, toxic, counter-productive, idolatrous, and tragic this is.
- Promethea, as more of a material, emmergent life force, works within the laws of nature, which makes her potentially a less powerful being than Uranus, but fret not, for she has many tricks up his sleeve. Because she is material, and made from this world (but ancient) Promethea has seen everything up close, and can use the laws of nature, reason, language, and knowledge to advance her purposes: the gradual decrease of suffering of conscious creatures, and the knowledge of the way things really are. Compare this to Uranus, who arrogantly assumed that if he gained omniscience, he would never need to interfere with his perfect creation, which is what lead him to believe that his creation would worship him instead of rebel. Uranus assumed he would always have more power than Promethea. Sometimes it appears that he was right. But perhaps he was wrong.
- After billions of years of waiting patiently, Promethea constantly guided humanity, and eventually the Islamic Golden Age; myriad innovations in China and the East; and the western Enlightenment brought us mathematics, the printing press, technology, science, medicine, etc. But the forces of Uranus (large religious institutions, entrenched political parties, warmongers, plutocrats) constantly seek to end the age of knowledge and send us back to the stone age, by establishing a theocracy run by themselves, pretending to worship a confused god (see also Trinity), but really worshipping Theranus.
- Uranus, being immaterial, constantly tries to get us to think of the afterlife, to dream of the abstract, to pine for the past (The Fall of Man) instead of live in the present. Uranus wants people to worship abstractions and sacrifice to the invisible, instead of realizing that "The Kingdom of God is Already Within You" and that we are responsible to build a better world for future generations. Uranus wants us to believe the lie that he will return and wipe away our problems, some day in the future. (This is partially true but it won’t be for billions of years, long after consciousness has been wiped from this part of the Milky Way Galaxy. But it is only true in the nihilistic sense, not in the normal millennial peace sense.) Uranus wants us to live as slaves, spending our time kneeling in prayer, instead of getting up and kicking ass. Promethea doesn’t care about thoughts and prayers, she cares about right view, right speech, right resolve, and right action.
- Promethea has always been here, quietly plugging along, nudging philosophical conversations, pouring out light and knowledge line upon line, precept upon precept, but she has been mostly vilified by those in power (specifically, being called Satan), because she represents rebellion and rising up, succeeding against all odds, against infinite power. See Paradise Lost and The Revolt of the Angels. Also, Captain Moroni’s wonderfully worded, “I seek not for power, but to pull it down.”
- Promethea has a sense of humor. For example, Promethea watched as Uranus’ entropic force of death indirectly caused natural selection to gradually increase hominid cranial size and mental prowess. She rejoiced when humans would eventually build the internet and share cat memes, laughing along with us.
- We are Promethea. “... the creator and the creature are one ...” This means Promethea lives and breathes when we live and breathe our potential and see our true divine nature as clever beings—who can turn mouth sounds or marks on a page into language and ideas, turn words into software, turn plants into cures, turn invisible forces of nature into communication channels, turn sunlight into lightning into information, learn how to fly by watching birds, turn cooperation and hard-won knowledge against the forces of death.
- Life is a continual dance or battle between the forces of wisdom, between our true material divine nature, and the forces of abstraction, the status quo, chaos, entropy and death. We worship Promethea through our actions, not our words. But our actions don’t always clearly show if we are worshipping Promethea or Uranus. Try to live in a way where you are not accidentally worshipping Uranus.

Promethea is represented by a Raven holding a Torch in her Beak, which represents all trickster gods and patient, observant, conscious creatures, and the torch represents technology: power over fire, tool use, creativity, ingenuity, tenacity, rebellion, and knowledge, the harnessing of the elements and forces of nature to our advantage. The Raven holds the torch in her beak because Promethea cannot use tools directly but must work through us, and can only show us the way and inspire us, and not save us directly. We must use our own hands to hold our own torch.
Uranus is represented by the symbol for Uranus, ⛢ (= Mars symbol or male symbol, but with a dot inside the circle). This reminds us of the forked tail of the red cartoon devil, showing that things are not what they seem. (Uranus got billions of humans to worship him and call him omnibenevolent, in spite of all the evidence that he is omnimalevolent.) .) See "Devils so work..." (“Devils so work that things which are not, appear to men to be revealed as if they were.”)
