Physical Exercise

Physical Exercise

The gap between knowing what to do (exercise regularly) and practicing what to do (just do it) is the hard part and that I cannot help you with, except a few small tips:

If you do not walk regularly, start with that. If five minutes a day is too much, start with five minutes every other day for a month, then go to six. If that amount of exercise is more than you do now, and you can keep it going, then it is an improvement. Do it.

If you are fine with walking, then try walk-jogging regularly (get your heart rate up and sweat).

If walk-jogging is easy for you, try jogging regularly. It is convenient and easy. You do not need a gym. Run in the rain, like some badass character from a Rocky movie.

Try to find a way to do year-round swimming. Try shooting hoops at the park. Try having backup exercise ideas if your favorite is temporarily unavailable for weeks or months. Keep it going.

In addition to the above "move your body" exercise, try at-home resistance exercise, starting with pushups. Start with one pushup a day and work your way up. Pushups can be done anywhere and work your core and burn a lot of calories. Keep it going.

You may just get hooked if you can get it started and focus on not overdoing it but rather in just keeping it going. Focus on what you can keep going. Focus on showing up at all costs.

Don't give up if you fall off the horse or skip a day. Just get back on the horse. How you handle a slump or skipped days is 90% of your success. Do you sadly entrench and give up? or do you forgive yourself and move forward, not backward? Gracefully handling failure is the secret that the fit do not want you to know ;-)
